Bio
Recruited from East Perth in the WAFL, Richard Dennis arrived at Princes Park in 1987 and made an immediate impact as a skillful and courageous half-forward. He enjoyed a dream debut season, playing 23 games and featuring in Carlton’s 1987 premiership side, quickly establishing himself as a player with strong hands and a natural goal sense. However, his rapid rise was stalled by a severe knee injury sustained against Collingwood in 1988 while fearlessly marking with the flight of the ball. Although he returned to the field, Dennis struggled to recapture his explosive best and was eventually traded to North Melbourne in exchange for Ron De Iulio. He spent two seasons at Arden Street before retiring, remembered best by Blues fans for his vital role in their late-80s success.
