Teams

Recruited from the Northern Knights with pick 44 in the 2003 National Draft, Ricky Dyson developed into a running utility who primarily operated on the wing or across half-back for Essendon. Known for his piercing left-foot kick and capacity to carry the ball, he provided valuable outside run and delivery for the Bombers during a period of significant transition. While he produced highlights with his long-range shooting and line-breaking ability, Dyson often faced questions regarding his consistency and defensive accountability, which saw him drift in and out of the senior side at various points.

Despite fighting for his spot for much of his tenure, Dyson displayed admirable resilience to reach the 100-game milestone in 2011. He played his final season under James Hird in 2012 before being delisted, ending a nine-year stint at Windy Hill. Although not a star of the competition, he was a loyal clubman who bridged the gap between the Kevin Sheedy era and the new generation, finishing his career with 114 games and 43 goals.
