Bio
Recruited via the Richmond Under 19s, Ricky Jackson was initially overlooked by the Tigers' senior selectors due to concerns regarding his diminutive stature, a rejection that ultimately benefited Melbourne. Joining the Demons in 1986, the 170cm rover and forward pocket quickly established himself as a dangerous offensive weapon known for his blistering pace and opportunistic crumbing. His standing at the club peaked during the 1988 season when he topped Melbourne's goalkicking and booted five goals in the Preliminary Final triumph over Carlton, earning him a spot in that year's Grand Final side. Despite representing Australia in the 1990 International Rules series, his relationship with the Demons eventually soured, leading to a trade to Footscray at the end of 1991. Tragically, the fresh start was cut short when he suffered a severe leg injury in a pre-season practice match, forcing the talented goal-sneak into retirement without ever playing a senior game for the Bulldogs.
