Bio
Recruited from Keilor Park via the Essendon reserves, Ricky Olarenshaw burst onto the scene as a dashing wingman, etching his name in history as a member of the famous "Baby Bombers" side that secured the 1993 premiership in his debut season. Possessing genuine pace and a balanced left-foot delivery, he appeared destined to become a midfield staple at Windy Hill, but his career quickly became defined by a relentless run of soft-tissue injuries and fitness battles that severely curtailed his output. After struggling to string games together for the Bombers, he was traded to Collingwood at the end of 1998 in search of a fresh start, yet his body continued to fail him, restricting him to just five appearances over two frustrating seasons at Victoria Park. Olarenshaw was thrown a final lifeline by North Melbourne in the 2001 Pre-Season Draft, but he managed only one senior game for the Kangaroos before retiring, remembered primarily as a premiership talent whose potential was ultimately stifled by the treatment room.
