Teams

Selected by Melbourne with pick 30 in the 2006 National Draft from Broadbeach, Ricky Petterd arrived as a promising forward prospect from Queensland. He quickly established a reputation for fearlessness and aerial prowess, often playing as a lead-up half-forward willing to fly into packs, but his time at the Demons was heavily marred by injuries, including a severe collapsed lung in his debut season and persistent soft tissue issues. Delisted by Melbourne following the 2012 season, he was handed a lifeline by Richmond via the Rookie Draft, where he successfully reinvented himself as a disciplined half-back and utility. Petterd played a handy role in the Tigers' defensive rotation during their return to finals action, though chronic foot injuries eventually forced his retirement in 2015, concluding a career defined by resilience and adaptability.
