Bio
Recruited from West Heidelberg as a teenage prodigy, Ricky Watt burst onto the scene to debut for Collingwood at just 16 years of age. A classy left-footed winger who possessed the height and pace to play across multiple lines, he was often touted as a future key position star before injuries repeatedly interrupted his momentum. Despite missing the entire 1965 season, Watt proved his quality by playing in the 1964 Grand Final and later enjoying a career-best 1969 campaign where he represented Victoria and earned All-Australian honours. However, his VFL career ended on a bittersweet note; his final appearance for the Magpies was as the 19th man in the famous 1970 Grand Final loss. Following an Achilles injury, he departed Victoria Park to play with Coburg in the VFA and later enjoyed significant success in Tasmania, captain-coaching Penguin and winning a best and fairest at East Devonport.
