Bio
Selected by the Western Bulldogs with pick 62 in the 2019 National Draft, Riley Garcia arrived at the Whitten Oval as a patience-required prospect after tearing his ACL during his draft year with Western Australia. A diminutive but tenacious midfielder capable of pushing forward, he is characterised by his clean hands in traffic, high work rate, and willingness to attack the contest against larger opponents. Despite consistently dominating at VFL levelโhighlighted by a Footscray Best and Fairest awardโGarcia found it difficult to cement a spot in a star-studded Bulldogs engine room, often finding himself on the fringe of selection or utilised as the tactical substitute. While he attracted trade interest from clubs in his home state seeking ready-made midfield depth, he remained with the Bulldogs throughout this period, persisting as a high-pressure rotation player fighting to bridge the gap between state league dominance and regular senior football.
