Stats
Bio
Recruited locally from East Brunswick, Ritchie Green was a tenacious defender who became a fixture of the Carlton backline in the years following World War II. While he initially showed promise on a half-back flank, he played his finest football in the back pocket, where his disciplined checking allowed him to form a rock-solid partnership with champion full-back Ollie Grieve. His career highlight came in 1947, playing a vital role in the Blues' famous one-point Grand Final victory against fierce rivals Essendon. After 95 games at Princes Park, Green crossed to South Melbourne for a brief two-game stint in 1953 before departing the VFL to pursue a coaching career in the country.
