Bio
Recruited by the Western Bulldogs with pick 5 in the 2015 Rookie Draft from the Calder Cannons, Roarke Smith’s nine-year tenure at the Kennel was defined by extraordinary resilience rather than high game volume. An athletic utility capable of playing on a wing or across half-back, Smith possessed strong overhead marking skills but faced significant hurdles, including two ACL reconstructions early in his career. His path was notoriously precarious, as he was delisted and re-rookied by the club on three separate occasions, yet he repeatedly fought his way back into senior contention. While he struggled for continuity, Smith’s persistence was rewarded in 2021 when he played a career-high 13 games and featured in the Bulldogs' Grand Final side against Melbourne, before eventually being delisted for the final time at the conclusion of the 2023 season.
