Recruited to North Melbourne from Corpus Christi, Robert Kerr was a mid-sized utility who faced a difficult battle to secure a regular senior berth. After managing just a handful of games for the Kangaroos, he spent the 1989 season in the VFA with Brunswick before the Sydney Swans offered him a second chance via the 1990 Pre-Season Draft. Kerr added ten games to his career tally in the harbour city, often filling gaps in the lineup as a depth player rather than commanding a specific position. While his on-field career was brief, he subsequently became a heavyweight in football administration, serving as CEO of the AFL Players Association, the General Manager of Football at Essendon during its challenging post-supplements saga rebuild, and later the CEO of the AFL Umpires Association.
