Bio
Recruited from South Fremantle with pick 29 in the 1994 National Draft, Robert Powell was a mercurial forward known for his spectacular high marking and innate goal sense. He quickly became a cult figure at Punt Road, using his pace and X-factor to impact the scoreboard, most notably during a productive 1998 season where he cemented his spot in the senior side. Despite his ability to produce highlight-reel moments, Powell struggled to deliver consistent performances over the long term and was delisted by the Tigers following the 2000 season. He was thrown a lifeline by St Kilda in the pre-season draft, adding depth to the Saints' forward line for a single year before finishing his AFL career as a player remembered for his exciting but fleeting glimpses of brilliance.
