Bio
Arriving from Western Districts in the QAFL, Robert Shepherd was a standout junior talent who joined Fitzroy with high expectations as a former All-Australian Schoolboy vice-captain and J.L. Williams Medalist. He operated as a quick and elusive half-forward who could push into the midfield, utilising his high skill level to become a regular fixture by 1977, a season in which he averaged 19 disposals. Despite his developing form in the VFL, Shepherd returned to Queensland after just three seasons, where he resumed a successful state-league career at Wests and finished as a two-time runner-up in the Grogan Medal.
