Bio
Recruited from Inverloch-Kongwak, Robert Wilkinson was a tall ruckman who made his senior debut for Hawthorn as a 17-year-old in 1974. After managing just two appearances in his debut season, he returned to country football for several years before earning a second chance at VFL level in 1979. His comeback season was marred by controversy when he received a two-week suspension for spitting at Essendon rover Ken Mansfield, an incident that cost him his spot in the side for the remainder of the year. Wilkinson added nine games to his tally in 1980, rotating between the ruck and forward line, but struggled to cement a permanent position in a strong Hawks lineup. He remained on the list in 1981 without breaking into the senior team and subsequently transferred to Camberwell in the VFA.
