Stats
Bio
Recruited from Kaniva in the Wimmera district, Rod Coutts was an imposing physical specimen who arrived at Footscray standing 192cm—a massive height for a footballer in the early 1960s. He quickly slotted into the senior side as a key forward, using his frame to provide a deep target and contest aerial balls. His standout performance occurred in Round 10 of the 1963 season, where he tore apart the St Kilda defence to boot six goals in a 24-point victory. Despite that glimpse of dominance, his VFL career was short-lived, spanning just two seasons and 16 games before he finished his tenure at the top level.
