Bio
Recruited from West Coburg, Rod Elliott was a local product who broke into the North Melbourne senior side as a 17-year-old teenager. Standing 178cm, he was a lightly-built half-forward and rover capable of hitting the scoreboard, managing nine goals across his 15 appearances at VFL level. He featured for the Kangaroos during a difficult transitional period for the club, playing under coaches Keith McKenzie and Brian Dixon as the side struggled near the bottom of the ladder. Despite his early promise as a goal-kicking youngster, Elliott was unable to cement a permanent position in the lineup and departed Arden Street at the end of the 1971 season, just prior to the Ron Barassi era that would transform the club into a powerhouse.
