Bio
Recruited from Myers, Rod Horrocks arrived at Hawthorn in the mid-1950s as the club worked to lift itself from the bottom of the VFL ladder. He earned his senior debut in the opening round of the 1955 season against Essendon, but found consistent selection difficult to come by in a side that was slowly building towards its future golden era. His time at Glenferrie Oval was marked by a balancing act with his National Service in the RAAF, which likely impacted his continuity and development within the squad. A fringe player who struggled to cement a regular spot in the lineup, Horrocks managed just four games across two seasons before departing the VFL scene at the conclusion of 1956.
