Bio
Recruited from local side Footscray Tech Old Boys, Rod O'Connor was a barrel-chested defender known for his rugged physical presence. He broke into the senior side as a teenager in 1965 but struggled to secure a permanent position in the Bulldogs' lineup, managing just nine games across three seasons while drifting in and out of the reserves. A stout backman with a fearsome on-field demeanour, he left the VFL at the end of 1967 to pursue greater opportunities in South Australia. O'Connor subsequently joined Central District in the SANFL, where he straightened up the club's defence and became a reliable contributor during the late 1960s.
