Bio
Recruited from Glenorchy in Tasmania, Rodney Eade arrived at Hawthorn in the mid-1970s and quickly became a fixture in one of the most dominant sides in VFL history. Known universally as "Rocket" for his blistering pace, he developed into a dashing wingman and half-back flanker capable of breaking lines and driving the ball forward with precision. Eade's durability and running capacity were vital components of the Hawks' golden era, seeing him play a key role in four premiership victories between 1978 and 1987.
After twelve seasons at Glenferrie Oval, Eade moved north to join the Brisbane Bears in 1988, bringing much-needed experience and standards to the fledgling expansion club. He served as the Bears' captain in 1990 before retiring at the end of that season with 259 games to his credit. While often recognised by modern audiences for his extensive coaching career across three clubs, Eade remains a member of the Tasmanian Football Hall of Fame and stands as a decorated figure from Hawthorn's most successful dynasty.
