Teams

Recruited from Norwood, Rodney Maynard secured his place in history as a member of the Adelaide Crows' inaugural team that entered the AFL in 1991. A physically strong defender renowned for his booming left-foot kick, he was often tasked with generating rebound from the back half while containing opposition forwards. Maynard was a fixture in the side during the club's early years under Graham Cornes, playing in the historic debut victory over Hawthorn and notching over 80 games before his departure at the end of the 1995 season. While he returned to local football in South Australia following his AFL stint, his footballing lineage continues at the elite level through his nephew, Collingwood premiership defender Brayden Maynard.
