Bio
Originally hailing from Shepparton but recruited via South Melbourne Districts, Rolland Fairley was a follower who played ten games for South Melbourne across the 1927 and 1928 seasons. Unable to cement a permanent spot with the Bloods, he crossed to Hawthorn midway through 1928, becoming a regular fixture in a struggling lineup that remained winless during his twelve-game tenure. Fairley departed the VFL to return to country football with Shepparton the following year, but his career and life were tragically cut short in 1930 at the age of 25 when he was struck by a vehicle and killed while changing a tyre on the side of the road at Wallan.
