Teams

Recruited from Mordialloc, Ron Dean arrived at Punt Road as a teenage hopeful in 1962. Standing 178cm, he was a mid-sized utility who spent the majority of his time in the reserves, where he showed enough promise as a forward to earn a late-season promotion. He made his senior debut as an 18-year-old in Round 17 against St Kilda, where he managed to boot his solitary career goal. His brief tenure at the top level is often a source of trivia for Tigers tragics, as he played alongside the similarly named club legend Roger Dean in both of his senior appearances, creating a unique headache for commentators of the era. Dean played just one more game the following week against North Melbourne before departing the VFL scene, leaving him with a short but distinct footprint in Richmond history.
