Bio
Recruited from VFA powerhouse Port Melbourne, Ron Fisher was the younger brother of former Saint Clem Fisher and arrived at the Junction Oval via a circuitous route that included reserves stints at both South Melbourne and Footscray. Standing 188cm—a formidable height for the 1930s—Fisher operated primarily as a ruckman who possessed a dangerous presence when resting forward, evidenced by his solid return of 71 goals from 82 games. He finally broke through for his senior debut with St Kilda in 1933, establishing himself as a consistent figure in the starting lineup for six seasons during a lean era for the club. Fisher eventually departed the VFL in 1939 to take up a captain-coaching position with Ararat in the country leagues.
