Bio
Recruited from Wonthaggi by way of Preston, Ron Fletcher entered the VFL as a mature-age ruckman capable of imposing his 185cm frame on the contest. The nephew of former North Melbourne VFA player Les Kew Ming, Fletcher debuted at age 24 and quickly settled into the side, donning the number 34 and later 36 guernseys. He played his football as a traditional ruck, competing in the centre and around the ground without drifting forward to kick goals. His time at the top level was brief but steady, tallying 21 appearances across the 1951 and 1952 seasons before departing the club.
