Recruited from the prolific football nursery of Cobden in the Hampden League, Ron Henriksen arrived at the Western Oval in the wake of the club’s maiden premiership triumph. A solid defender who stood 179cm, he faced the difficult task of breaking into a lineup still populated by the heroes of 1954, managing just three appearances in his debut 1956 season. His most consistent run came in 1957 when he played 12 senior games, operating primarily in the back half where his defensive focus kept him scoreless throughout his brief career. Unable to cement a permanent place in the side, Henriksen added just four more games in 1958 before departing the VFL scene.
