Bio
Recruited from VFA club Brunswick during the height of the Second World War, Ron Hobba was a mature-age addition to the Melbourne list in 1943. Having previously played for the Footscray reserves before moving to the Association in 1939, he was brought in to bolster a squad depleted by military enlistments. Operating as a half-forward, he managed eight senior appearances in the red and blue without troubling the scorers. Unable to cement a long-term spot as regular players returned, he departed the VFL after a single season and returned to Brunswick in 1945 to continue his career.
