Stats
Bio
Recruited from the Oakleigh Seconds, Ron Jory was a versatile follower and half-forward who made an immediate impact at Essendon in the final year of the Second World War. Standing 183cm, he offered a strong physical presence in the Dons' line-up throughout 1945, playing 18 games and proving himself as a capable target in attack. However, his momentum stalled in 1946; hampered by a nagging leg injury and the immense depth of an Essendon squad destined for the flag, he managed only seven appearances and was squeezed out of the side for the Grand Final triumph. Unable to regain a regular senior spot against such formidable competition, Jory left the VFL after just two seasons to return to Oakleigh, where he eventually captained the club and later enjoyed success as a country football coach.
