Teams

A prodigious country goal-kicker recruited from Leongatha, Ron Kee arrived at the Junction Oval with a reputation for big bags, having once booted 19 goals in a local reserves match. Standing 188cm, he progressed through the Saints' ranks to play in the 1957 Under-19s premiership side, but found his path to regular senior selection blocked by star full-forward Bill Young. Kee eventually earned his debut late in the 1959 season against Collingwood when Young was omitted due to form, playing two matches as a key forward before departing the club. He later forged a successful VFA career at Moorabbin, winning the 1963 premiership alongside lifelong friend and trucking magnate Lindsay Fox, and eventually returned to St Kilda in the 1980s to serve as a dedicated team manager and volunteer.
