Stats
Bio
A dual-sided rover and wingman recruited from Keilor, Ron Kennedy served a long apprenticeship in the reserves before finally earning his senior opportunity. Although he joined the club's seconds in 1937, he did not break into the senior lineup until the war-affected 1944 season, where he played three consecutive mid-year matches that resulted in a draw, a loss, and a win. Standing just 169cm, the diminutive playmaker's VFL career was brief, and he made the unusual transition to umpiring immediately following his playing stint. Kennedy eventually returned to the field as a captain-coach for Doutta Stars and Keilor, enjoying a long tenure as a mentor in amateur football across the northern suburbs.
