Stats
Bio
Recruited from Maryborough in country Victoria, Ron Richards was a tall utility who briefly made his mark at the Western Oval in the early 1950s. Standing at 187cm, he possessed the height and versatility to play as a key position option at either end of the ground, balancing his football commitments with his final-year studies in chemistry. After serving an apprenticeship in the reserves in 1950, he broke into the senior side the following season, impressing observers with his size and pace while rotating through the forward line to boot eight career goals. His VFL stint was ultimately short-lived, as he requested a clearance back to Maryborough after just two seasons and 12 senior games.
