Bio
Recruited from local club Murrumbeena, Ron Rolfe was a stocky forward who made a brief but distinct appearance for South Melbourne during the 1961 VFL season. Standing 179cm with a heavy 89kg frame, he used his physical strength to contest possession inside the forward 50, breaking into the senior side mid-year to play eight consecutive matches. While he managed to boot four goals during his short stint at the Lake Oval, he was unable to secure a long-term position on the list and departed the VFL at the end of the year. Rolfe subsequently carved out a respectable career in the VFA, playing for Moorabbin, Brighton-Caulfield, and Waverley throughout the remainder of the 1960s.
