Bio
Originally hailing from Newtown & Chilwell, Ron Tenabel cut his teeth in the Geelong reserves, playing in back-to-back premierships in 1963 and 1964 without quite breaking into the Cats' formidable senior lineup. Seeking greater opportunity at VFL level, the 188cm utility transferred to South Melbourne in 1965, where he was used primarily as a follower and defensive option. While he struggled to cement a permanent spot in the Swans' best 22, managing 17 games across three seasons without registering a goal, he was a serviceable heavy-bodied competitor during a difficult era for the club. Tenabel eventually departed the VFL to forge a decorated career in the VFA with Geelong West, where he captain-coached the side, won a Best and Fairest, and played a pivotal role in their 1968 Division 2 premiership victory.
