Stats
Bio
Recruited from the Collingwood District to fill the void left by the legendary Gordon Coventry, Ron Todd immediately established himself as a phenomenal aerialist capable of dominating matches from full-forward. Known for his breathtaking high marking and powerful, albeit sometimes wayward, drop kicks, he topped the VFL goalkicking table in 1938 and 1939, playing a pivotal role in the Magpies' attack during a golden era for the club. His time at Victoria Park ended abruptly and controversially when he crossed to Williamstown in the VFA at the peak of his powers, a decision motivated by a lucrative offer that the strict VFL player payments could not match. Although this move limited his VFL tally to just five seasons, Todd's subsequent record-breaking exploits in the VFA confirmed his standing as one of the finest forwards to ever play the game, eventually earning him induction into the Australian Football Hall of Fame.
