Bio
Recruited from Camperdown in the Western District, Ron Wood joined Geelong during the club's post-war rebuilding phase in the late 1940s. He made his senior debut in Round 3, 1947 against Fitzroy and managed to hold his spot for much of his maiden season, utilised largely as a follower or in defence where his scoring opportunities were limited. However, he struggled to replicate that consistency the following year, adding just three games to his tally in 1948 before departing the VFL scene. Wood's brief tenure at Kardinia Park served as a bridge between the difficult war years and the assembly of the formidable Geelong side that would go on to dominate the early 1950s.
