Bio
Recruited from the Eastern Ranges with pick 44 in the 2008 National Draft, Rory Sloane developed from a energetic cult hero into one of the most courageous midfielders of his generation. A contested ball-winner renowned for his fearless attack on the footy and elite two-way running, he became the heartbeat of the Adelaide engine room. While he lacked the polish of some contemporaries, his work rate and tackling pressure set the standard, earning him two Malcolm Blight Medals and All-Australian selection in 2016.
Sloane's legacy at West Lakes is defined as much by his loyalty as his performance. During a period where high-profile stars frequently departed the Crows, he rejected lucrative offers to remain a one-club player, cementing his status as a fan favourite. He served as co-captain alongside Taylor Walker before assuming the sole captaincy, guiding the squad through a challenging rebuild. His twilight years were hampered by injury, most notably a detached retina that eventually forced his retirement in April 2024. He departed as a beloved club figure having played 255 games in the tricolours.
