Bio
Recruited from his family's wheat farm in Kukerin via Claremont in the WAFL, Ross Ditchburn was a powerful full-forward known for his vice-like mark and accurate set-shot kicking. He made an instant impression at Carlton, topping the club's goalkicking in his debut season and featuring prominently in the 1982 premiership side. Despite averaging more than three goals a game during his time at Princes Park, Ditchburn's VFL career was fleeting; he retired after just two seasons to return to the farm, a decision influenced by the cumulative effect of head knocks and a preference for country life over the city spotlight.
