Recruited from Golden Square in the Bendigo Football League, Ross Ousley was a versatile utility who added height and depth to the Carlton squad during the late 1950s. Standing at 183cm, he possessed the size to play as a follower or in a key forward post, offering the Blues a flexible option capable of hitting the scoreboard. He made his debut in 1956 and managed to boot 15 goals across his tenure, though he struggled to cement a permanent position in the senior eighteen over his three seasons at Princes Park. After departing the club at the end of 1958, Ousley extended his playing career in the VFA, serving with both Port Melbourne and Northcote throughout the 1960s.
