Bio
Recruited from Colac in the club's fruitful western district zone, Ross Sutherland was a solid 183cm utility who broke into the Geelong side for the opening round of the 1958 season. He was handed his debut by coach Reg Hickey in a tough away loss to Essendon at Windy Hill, offering a physical presence during a transitional period for the Cats. Sutherland played his second and final match in Round 5 against Richmond at Kardinia Park, but unable to cement a permanent position in the starting eighteen, he left the VFL scene at the conclusion of the year with two senior games to his name.
