Bio
A prolific ball-winner from Donald in country Victoria, Ross Young carved out a unique football journey as one of the first beneficiaries of the AFL's mature-age rookie rules. After dominating the amateur ranks with University Blues and impressing with Carlton’s VFL affiliate Northern Bullants, the 23-year-old was elevated to the Blues' senior list in 2007 to cover for the injured Nick Stevens. A classy left-footed midfielder known for his professionalism and accumulation, Young played six games at the elite level before being delisted at season's end. While his AFL stint was brief, he established a legacy as a genuine state-league star, moving west to captain Perth and win the 2009 Sandover Medal, before eventually returning to Victoria to captain Richmond’s inaugural VFL side and claim a Woodrow Medal in the VAFA.
