Teams

Recruited from Violet Town, Roy Franklin joined Melbourne for the 1915 season, arriving at a time when the league was heavily overshadowed by the First World War. He earned selection for the opening round against South Melbourne and held his place in the side for the first six weeks of the year, registering one goal during his brief tenure. His VFL career was abruptly curtailed after just half a dozen appearances, playing his final match in late May shortly before the club eventually went into recess for the duration of the conflict. Franklin did not return to the highest level following the war, leaving his legacy as one of the many footballers whose sporting pursuits were interrupted by the global crisis of the era.
