Stats
Bio
Recruited from Shepparton in the Goulburn Valley, Roy Rodda arrived at Glenferrie Oval in 1933 as one of the smallest players in the competition. Standing just 163cm, the diminutive rover and forward pocket compensated for his lack of height with sharp goal sense and evasiveness, managing to kick 31 goals in his 34 games—a strong return for a small forward in a Hawthorn side that consistently languished near the bottom of the ladder. He was a reliable avenue to goal during his three-year stint in the VFL before departing the top level at the end of the 1935 season. Rodda's contribution to the club is remembered alongside his service to the nation, as he later joined the Australian Army during the Second World War.
