Bio
Recruited from VFA club Oakleigh, Roy Rodwell joined Footscray in 1932 and quickly established himself as a versatile utility at the Western Oval. While often categorised historically as a defender, he demonstrated a genuine ability to impact the scoreboard, evidenced by a sharp return of eight goals in just six games during his debut season. Standing 179cm, Rodwell was used as a swingman who could plug gaps in the backline or drift forward to provide a marking target, a role he returned to effectively in his final year. He remained a consistent presence in the senior lineup across four seasons during a lean era for the club, providing reliable service until his VFL career concluded at the end of 1935.
