Stats
Bio
Hailing from the historic footballing Dodd family of Keilor, Rupe Dodd was a diminutive but sharp-shooting forward who made his VFL debut with Essendon in 1927. Standing just 168cm, he overcame his lack of size with acute goal sense, booting 19 goals in 11 games during a promising rookie season at Windy Hill. Despite this strong start, he drifted out of the league for several years, returning to local football before earning a second chance at the elite level with Hawthorn in 1931. His stint with the Mayblooms was brief, adding just three games and four goals to his tally before concluding his VFL career. Though his time at the top was fleeting, Dodd's strike rate of nearly two goals a game highlighted a natural ability that perhaps went unfulfilled at the highest level.
