Bio
Recruited from Preston, Rupe Perrett was a versatile follower and defender whose brief VFL career is best remembered for his involvement in a pivotal moment of Collingwood history. After cutting his teeth with five games for North Melbourne in 1930, he crossed to Victoria Park the following season, where he faced the formidable task of breaking into a Magpies lineup that had won the previous four premierships. Perrett was thrust into the spotlight when selected for just his second game in black and white in the 1931 First Semi-Final against Carlton, a brutal baptism of fire that saw the "Machine" thrashed and eliminated from the premiership race. Unable to retain his spot in the senior side following that historic defeat, he spent the next two seasons as a regular fixture in the Collingwood reserves before departing the league.
