Stats
Bio
Hailing from Eaglehawk in central Victoria, Russ Robinson was a school teacher by trade who managed to break into a formidable Melbourne lineup during the club's post-war golden era. Standing 183cm, he operated primarily as a defender, making his debut in 1947 before adding another six games to his tally during the Demons' successful 1948 premiership campaign. Despite showing promise as a young backman fighting for a spot in a star-studded side, his VFL career was cut short by his profession rather than form, as a teaching transfer to the country forced him to leave the city prior to the 1949 season. He subsequently took up a role as captain-coach of Cohuna, leaving his brief league tenure as a victim of the amateur era's work commitments.
