Bio
Recruited from Boronia, Russell Cromarty was a talented forward who showed a keen eye for goal during his brief time at Fitzroy. Making his debut in 1966, he quickly became a productive target in attack for the Lions, booting 25 goals in just 18 games—including two bags of four in his rookie season. However, his promising VFL journey was effectively cut short when he was conscripted for National Service and deployed to the Vietnam War. Cromarty returned to Brunswick Street after his tour of duty but struggled to regain the sharp reflexes and judgment required for League football, ultimately continuing his career in suburban leagues where he later enjoyed premiership success.
