Bio
Recruited from Claremont in the WAFL, Russell Reynolds was a sturdy, strongly built utility who crossed the Nullarbor to join St Kilda ahead of the 1973 season. Standing 182cm, he possessed the physical strength to hold down key positions at either end of the ground, though he often played his finest football as a negating centre half-back. A standout moment in his career occurred during a 1975 victory against Richmond, where he famously used his bodywork to nullify Tiger superstar Royce Hart. After four consistent seasons as a regular senior player, Reynolds' career was abruptly cut short at just 26 years of age due to a severe leg injury in 1977, which forced his retirement and prevented a planned return to his original club in Western Australia.
