Bio
Recruited from Niddrie with pick 38 in the 1993 National Draft, Russell Williams joined Essendon immediately following the club's famous "Baby Bombers" premiership success. Facing the difficult task of breaking into a settled and youthful premiership lineup, the utility made his debut in Round 4 of the 1994 season against St Kilda. He managed to hold his spot for three consecutive weeks, registering his solitary career goal during a comfortable victory over the Sydney Swans at the SCG in Round 5. Unable to permanently displace established senior players in Kevin Sheedy's deep squad, Williams was delisted at the conclusion of the 1994 season without adding further to his game tally.
