Teams

Drafted by North Melbourne with pick 21 in the 2009 National Draft, Ryan Bastinac made an immediate impact at Arden Street, playing every game in his debut season and finishing fourth in the Rising Star award. A product of the Dandenong Stingrays, he established himself as a disciplined running midfielder who could spread from contests and hit the scoreboard. Bastinac became a consistent figure in the Kangaroos' lineup, playing 121 games for the club and featuring in multiple finals campaigns as North Melbourne pushed into top-eight contention.

Seeking a fresh start and greater midfield opportunities, Bastinac was traded to the Brisbane Lions at the end of the 2015 season. He brought valuable experience to a rebuilding Lions outfit but struggled to recapture his best form consistently, often fluctuating between the senior side and the NEAFL. After adding 43 games to his tally in Queensland, largely playing on a wing or half-forward, he was delisted at the conclusion of 2019, finishing his career as a centurion goal-kicking midfielder with 164 games to his name.
