Bio
Recruited from West Adelaide with pick 66 in the 2002 National Draft, Ryan Ferguson was a mobile key defender who briefly looked set to become a long-term fixture in the Melbourne backline. He produced a standout campaign in 2005, utilising his intercept marking and defensive discipline to play 22 games and finish runner-up in the Keith 'Bluey' Truscott Medal. However, his progress was cruelly stalled by injuries, most notably a complex thumb issue that wiped out his entire 2007 season. Unable to regain fitness, Ferguson was delisted at the end of that year, leaving the playing arena prematurely before eventually returning to the elite level as a senior coach in the AFLW.
