Ryan Maric joined West Coast as the first overall selection in the 2023 Mid-Season Rookie Draft, recruited from the Gippsland Power to assist the club during a heavy rebuilding phase. Thrust immediately into the senior lineup, he made his debut just days after arriving in Perth, initially displaying promise as a hybrid forward with a precise kicking action. Over subsequent seasons, his role evolved away from a pure attacking target into that of a high-working utility, often deployed on a wing or flank where his capacity to hit targets aids the team's transition mechanics. having surpassed the 50-game milestone by the end of 2026, Maric has consolidated his spot in the Eagles' best 22, providing a steady presence and clean disposal for the developing side.
